Random is for sure! I had a late night at work tonight and couldn't wait to get home and relax. Well my dear children were at the door waiting for me to get home as usual. I walked in, set my stuff on the counter, and on my way to the bathroom I noticed the kitties hovering over something in front of the couch. I didn't think much of it and figured it was one of their toys...And then I saw it twitch! I finally realized that there was a half dead bird laying on the floor of the living room! Of course, I did what I do and started freaking out and of course, today of all days Chad is gone at band practice. I ran upstairs and tried to figure out what to do, called everyone nearby and couldn't find anyone to come to my rescue (Chad refused to come home and save me).
When I realized I was the only one that could take care of it, I locked Rilee and Gracy in my room and tossed around ideas at to how I was going to take care of it. I remembered the snow shovel in the garage and figured this was probably the easiest way to deal with it. Well trying to shovel it didn't work out so well and it just slid across the floor. Then I found an old shoe box (good thing I buy lots of shoes!)and was able to push it into the box, scooped up the box on the shovel, and set the box out on the porch where it sits as we speak waiting for Chad to come home.
So that, and scrubbing my floors, walls, and everywhere else the bird left it's "mark," was my big adventure for the night! Think I'd rather have boring any day compared to this!

How the heck did a bird get in your house? That's pretty exciting stuff!
yeah that's what i want to know! is there even a way for it to get in there?!
i remember when i lived at home.. dad would always have the back door open in the morning to let in some fresh air. well one morning there were bird feathers ALL over the living and dinning room floors! i can't remember if i ever found the actual bird or if the cat tore the whole thing up...
I third that question! How in the world???
You poor thing! I felt so bad that we were both out and couldn't rescue you! BUT, I am impressed at how brave you are.
When I was a kid, we had a bird fly in our house, and then it got stuck in the wall. I was sure I would hear it die in there, so I begged and begged my dad to cut it out of the wall and set it free.
I'm sure your little friend got better and flew away to his happy nest...
That is just too funny to figure out how it got in your house. So first the feathers and poop and then the body.YUCK! You had a lot of courage to take care of it. You go girl!!
